Monty has been active as an arts centre for the performing arts since 1985 and supported by the Ministry of Culture since 1987. It was a former cinema which is transformed into a well equipped theatre with an ongoing international programme of theatre, dance, contemporary classical music and pop concerts. Monty is producing, coproducing, organising workshops as well as hosting a specialised bookshop. In cooperation with de Singel Theatre Monty organises the "Theaterfestival" every three years.
