This most recent manifestation is an entire hardware platform and development kit, designed to be used both to teach low level game programming, but also as a system to use in your own projects.

If you've ever wanted to build your own console or arcade box, this may be a good starting place. They even have an Atari7800 pin compatible gamepad (just to be obediently nostalgic).
