Design us a banner and win a GP2X!

Muar har har.. design a new banner and logo for us and win a lovely GP2X handheld and t-shirt!

The GP2X is a handheld game-developers dream machine. For the player it's a veritable orchard of retro goodness, supporting a ton of emulators (SNES, MAME, NeoGeo [..]) not to mention a heap of new games developed by users.. It's also not a bad portable music and video player either.

Here's what happened to my face when I got mine.

You've got until the 15th of August to finish the logo and banner. We'll spend a week deciding which one we like, and we'll use it for a year, maybe even two. We'll fully accredit the design to you, and link you from our front page.

Read on for the submission rules and to get a feel for what we're after.

Rules:

* You can use any font you like in the banner, but you must include the word "selectparks" in some form, including creative mangling. The phrase "Art Defining Games" can also be incorporated. Hint: we quite like the font 'VoxBox', see if you can do better.

* The logo (not the banner) must include the letters "S" and "P", but can also use "selectparks" and the phrase above. It should work well at small sizes and in black and white.

* The banner size should be the same as the current one. You can go a little taller, but not wider.

* You must be the copyright holder for any work or images you use in the creation of the banner or the logo. Don't use fonts that you down own, don't have the right to publish with or otherwise aren't allowed to use.

* Work submitted must be uploaded as an archive (eg ZIP or TAR) to a location. Send us the link using this form with "Selectparks Banner Competition" in the subject, and we'll download it. All submissions will be publically posted on a page as they come in.

Banner and logo entries have to include:

* The original Gimp XCF or Photoshop PSD document you used. It you use other software to make the banner, make sure you send it to us as a PSD or XCF regardless.

* A grayscale AND full colour PNG file of the banner compressed and ready use.

* Your full name (yes that real one).

* If the work is of rough quality in general, or we just don't like any of the submissions at all, we'll send the GP2X to a nephew-in-need instead.

What we're after? We want to see something truly unique, even risky. Something that represents the weird and wonderful collection of work and ideas we've accumulated over the years.

Good Luck!
