Second Life is running a competition to win a somewhat miserly $500 and 1 year subscription of their proprietary software. Nonetheless if you're into rapid prototyping and don't need to weasel around in the source, this is a good choice. Not much time left I'm afraid.. work is due April 9 2005.

The types of games we're looking for:

The possibilities are almost unlimited: quests, sports, combat, obstacle courses, brain games, challenges, adventures, or other experiences that residents can share in groups. Think player vs. player, player vs. the environment, simple or complex - any combination that allows the residents of Second Life to come and play together.
