Opportunities
"The Game is the ultimate piece of art, capable of incorporating all forms of art and expression known to humanity, expressed using all forms of technology, from the ancient to the bleeding edge, without compromising its identity as a game." - zerogame manifesto.

The Interactive Game Art and Virtual Environment (I-GIVE) Awards aim to promote creative exploration and innovation within the field of games and new media arts.

The I-GIVE founders, Truna (Jane Turner) and g! (Gavin Sade), will be hosting the awards at this years Straight Out Of Brisbane Festival (SOOB) 2 - 12 December 2004.

The contemporary interest in games points to a world of play, a world of toys. So in the spirit of playfull creativity and exploration this years I-GIVE awards call for entrants to submit games or new media works that can be considered as 'toys'!

I-GIVE awards || categories
Awards will be granted in several catagories which are listed below.

* sound toys - immersion and engagement is driven by the sonic component of the submission.
* visual toys - principally visual environments
* network toys - anything that requires a connection to the network.
* tangible toys - tactile non mouse and keyboard interfaces
* broken toys - breaking things is often fun, some toys are more fun when they are broken, open to your interpretation.

I-GIVE awards || dates Initial expression of interest and unformed ideas/proposals to be submitted via the web form from July 2004.

Final submission of entries/'toys' by mid November 2004 (exact the exact date will be published soon)

Gala awards ceremony at the Straight Out of Brisbane independent arts festival 2 - 12 december 2004
