Art Games

Brody informs us: while surfing for TI-99 roms I found this wonderful piece Mass Murderer. I could not get the whole game to work in my classic99, seeing the mass murder screenshot in the emulator alone was worth it...

i can remember sitting on the floor inside a small closet programming adventure games when i was 13. an old CRT television which was too big to move was in there, and i hooked up a used TI-99 that someone gave me. somehow i got ahold of a book on making animations and games in BASIC. the best program i made, other than a badass flying ascii deathship, was a text based adventure game based on the movie gymkata. a classic piece of cold war folklore from 1985, it pits an CIA trained american olympic gold medalist turned martial arts master against a horde of lunatic zombie villagers, vikings, and ninjas in a fight to the death so that the US can install a "star wars" anti-nuke base in middle of what is apparently zagreb. gymnastics equipment is conveniently placed in the environment whenever there is ninja-killin to be done. awesome. i never finished my game really - u just typed north, south, east, or west and got killed in some horrible way.
