Standalone Games

1. 'Standalone games' are complete digital games that don't require the user to have an existing game engine installed in order for them to run.

2. Easier to distribute.

3. Easier to institutionalise and/or archive. Standalone games can provide freedom from legalities surrounding presentation of mods and maps.

4. Labour Intensive, rarely are Standalone games ever finished.

5. Can be expensive: software licensing, labour costs.

6. Best to start small.

7. Be careful about legalities if looking at middleware.

8. Consider the use of OpenSource software in the production of Standalone games.
