Tina Benko and Neža Jamnikar: Ladies Coupe
November 15th at 6:30 pm
The dance performance is inspired by different life situations of women and by literature concerned with it. The basic structure of the performance is taken from the novel by Anita Nair, Ladies Coupe, where women from different places, generations and backgrounds meet on a night train. The long ride and intimacy of the space inspire them and they start telling each other confidential stories marking their lives.
The stage reflects six stories of different women through dance – a young student, who is dealing with the pain of her lost love; an older woman, who is remembering her past and living in the memories of her youth; an artist, who is constantly searching for herself, her own expression and her place in the world; a woman from an apparently perfect family, who is having trouble dealing with the pressures of her marital life; a middle-aged single woman, who is drowning her unfulfilled love by partying and a call girl, who unexpectedly finds true love.
