Marco d’Agostin: VIOLA (Italy)

Marco d’Agostin punches the air and beats his chest, and yet simultaneously seems to submit to seduction – two sides of a sexual transaction held in a single mirror image. Here is the ambivalence of abuser and abused discomfortingly projected in documentary detail on an agile young frame, an assembly of evidence that both attracts and repels.

Marco d’Agostin is an actor who turned to dance, and this first solo won the GD’A prize in the Veneto region of Northern Italy in 2010 following development through a period of workshops and research.
