Jan Rozman: Metamorphoses
Pilot topic exploration – work in progress

Metamorphoses explore the relationship between two sides of the same coin, between the tangible and palpable meaning, and abstract value. Their stage appearance is presented through the story, which is usually uttered in words, in a specific language. The firmly coded system, which everybody understands, looses all meaning, if it is broken down, yet from the inside it offers a wide variety of possibilities.
Hence, where can the apparently firm narrative structure be broken down and give room for abstraction? To what extent are we prepared to let go of the familiar and indulge in a thoroughly new perspective? Do everyday movements, like a handshake, walking or nodding the head really have definitive meanings and to what extent can these movements be transformed and become indefinite? Is it possible furthermore that they take some other palpable form and thus reveal a whole new meaning?
