Dance Improvisation: Maja Lamovšek: On – Off

I am interested in the human instinctual trends called the id. ID or the IT is how Freud named the primal human instinct (the need for food, water, avoiding pain, sexuality, also aggressiveness – the struggle for survival)… It doesn’t know and doesn’t ask itself about what is right and what is wrong, it works according to the pleasure principle. In our daily routine we are questioning ourselves, thinking, pondering too much. The id is an unconscious process. I will explore movement, what I am able to control in my body, and if I don’t control it, where do I drift. When the thoughts are turned on again, the world of the instincts shatters, but the instinctual is the source of pleasure. I will focus on pleasure, how much of it we can handle and how much of it we actually posses.
The body in movement will itself be my point of research.
All these mind obstacles… Will the id be able to beat them or will it let them ruin the human pleasure?
