Arena is the name of The Mladi Levi Festival newspaper, created by young writers, most of whom have been attending the Maska Seminar on Contemporary Performing Arts.
The newspaper came into being as a joint initiative between Bunker Ljubljana and the above mentioned seminar, organized by Maska, Institute for Publishing, Production, and Education. This cooperation is being extended even further this year with the engagement of the SiGledal Slovene theatre portal, which is to publish the texts online and thus provide additional and more comprehensive coverage.
Arena is an experimental platform which transcends the genre frameworks of classical writing, thus establishing a space for playful experimentation with the new and challenging the writers’ creative spirit. In addition to covering the festival events, this year’s Arena will attempt to open a theoretical discussion on certain topics and formats, thus presenting a variety of genres and styles in the texts and contributions.
