SONCE IN SONČICE PO VSEM SVETU- concert for children

At this concert, six poems by the Slovene poet Tone Pavček, which are all set to music by Tomaž Grom, shall be presented in the Slovene language and six other languages (Japanese, Romanian, Albanian, Macedonian, Danish and Russian). The singers will be accompanied by percussion, accordion, guitar, double bass and other instruments.

GODIBODI (concert cycle): ARITMIJA

Members of the group Aritmija started to play and arrange traditional music pieces from the Balkans, as they found the ethnical tradition of the area a very inspiring source. Their repertoire now includes an increasing number of their own original songs. A good musical background and knowledge, and the mix of traditional, classical and modern music instruments have enabled the group Aritmija to create a unique sound and a very original style.

By an error of judgement, world languages are divided into the beautiful and the not so beautiful. The Hungarian language is unfairly placed in the latter group. The international project Kisha, shatters such stereotypes with an intoxicating mix of Hungarian words and beyond genre ambient music, with an echo that evokes the memories of the music once heard on old radios from a bygone era.

MILDREDS a concert, new album promotion

The Mildreds are ladies in tweed. Drinking their afternoon tea; Astrid Mildred Kuljanić (vocals), Uroš Mildred Rakovec (guitar, mandolin), Kruno Mildred Levačić (drums), Blaž Mildred Celarec (percussion, clarinet) and Žiga Mildred Golob (double bass, bass guitar). After successfully wiping the dust from their beloved old pop-songs, they decided to put home-made biscuits on the shelf. Again, without any great display, only with melodies and words, with tea and biscuits! Their product is top-notch and the ingredients are completely natural.

Tarek Atoui: UN-DRUM / STRATEGIES OF SURVIVING NOISE (festival EXODOS)

An intense and physical electronic sound performance. It draws upon the 3 days of arrest and torture the author experienced during the July 2006 war in Lebanon, during which he permanently lost partial hearing in his left ear, after receiving a beating to the head. ‘Un-drum / strategies of surviving noise’ draws parallels between the attempts to break states of physical and psychological detention and siege, and the collapsing of musical performance boundaries, laptop art and electronic music.

MOONLIGHT SKY

MOONLIGHT SKY, a Slovenia based group, has been enrapturing audiences for quite some time now. As far as genre goes their music could be depicted as progressive rock, although there is more to it than that. The music of MOONLIGHT SKY is a fusion of different tastes and styles, from rock, jazz, blues up to film score. All of this is presented with a great deal of respect for the music history. (more…)
