19th International festival EX PONTO

The Mladi levi festival looks for volunteers!

The Mladi levi festival is special also because of the energy and spirit that the volunteers have been bringing along ever since 2005. The festival will be celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and it is simply impossible to imagine its existence without the help of enthusiasts who one by one contribute as much as they can and will towards making the Mladi levi festival a remarkably organized, entertaining, fresh and colourful event that brings exceptional artists from Slovenia and abroad to Ljubljana at the onset of each autumn. 17th International Festival of Contemporary Arts – CITY OF WOMEN

The word embedded with mystical powers Abracadabra! represents this year’s main festival theme. It is considered a magic word; its letters had been placed in a pyramid turned upside down and people had carried them around their necks as an amulet to protect themselves against disease and trouble. We therefore decided to place our focus on magic, mystery, illusions, parallel reality, reality ‘as it really is’, rituals and pure imagination, because we wish to take a step aside from the cruel reality, embracing the present day world in the form of general distress and economic crisis. At the same time, we would like to make our way back to the parallel reality and revisit these very hardships through the perspective of different, other and borderline. Instead of ignoring the present state of affairs, we have our mind set on offering an unconventional view on human existence and perhaps even hope, which can be brought about by playfulness and awe, dreams and worship of life with openness, joy and pure wonderment.

Festival EX PONTO

The central theme of the 18th EX PONTO International Performing Arts Festival is entitled “The End or the Beginning?”, echoing the question frequently addressed in various sociological and philosophical debates, arising over and over again as a recurring motive for those involved in contemporary and especially performing arts. This very question instigated inner subjective dilemmas, controversy and intergenerational disunity due to various social-political reasons in the beginning of the 1990s. (more…)

FESTIVAL GODIBODI

As tradition has it, the now-fourth Godibodi Festival will present the novelties of contemporary popular and ethno music, which include a project prepared by singer, fairytale writer and collector of folk traditions, Ljoba Jenča. Also appearing: a debut by the Ba-rock band under the guidance of guitar player and composer Uroš Rakovec, a record by songwriter Mark Grobler, and a project by Robert Jukič and the accompanying music cast Dobrote iz skrinje zarote. The singer and composer Mateja Starič will present her authorial repertoire with a group of excellent musicians, and Maja Pihler a.k.a. “Bilbi,” with her recent breakthrough song Hvala za vijolice, will present her forthcoming record in a premiere concert performance.
The 2011 Godibodi will also feature renowned Hungarian flute player Eszter Horgas with the Classjazz band.
