Angolan/Portuguese musician, producer and DJ Pedro Coquenão (aka Batida) has, in the last few years, managed to provoke such widespread interest that he rarely finds himself off the club and festival stage – few performers can boast appearances at music expos as diverse as Eurosonic, Womex and Babel Med, and only Jambinai, DG guests last time round, can begin to match the global interest, outside pop circles, that Batida is currently enjoying. Wanda & Nova deViator: ARP 339

Music-dance performance ARP 339 is a sonogram of cyberfuturistic potentiality. Instead of being caught in a concert format, though reminiscent of it, ARP 339 springs from all directions at once. The performance is an attempt at constructing a utopian world that explores the decomposition of spatial limitations of the three-dimensional reality, introducing into it the elements of time and mental leaps. Slovenian Percussion Project: OFFICE, premiere

The percussion ensemble Slovenski tolkalni projekt (SToP), was founded in 1999. StoP is a unique ensemble composed entirely of academically educated musicians. Svetlana Makarovič, Milko Lazar: THE SAGA OF HALLGERD

In her work entitled The Saga of Hallgerd, Svetlana Makarovič drew upon the Icelandic storytelling tradition so very dear to her, and set off to the battle beween Christianity and Paganism that had flared up in the 10th century. The central character appearing in this battle is the beautiful Hallgerd, who was loyal to the old ways, treated people with respect and stood up against injustice. (more…)

Razal Oklim Quartet: WHITE GRAVEL-STONES

The last time Milko Lazar was seen performing with his quartet (The Milko Lazar Quartet) was at the Jazz Cerkno Festival in 2006. And it was at this concert that recordings were made for his new CD. The Lazar jazz quartet became reunited once again in the beginning of this year and adopted the new name Razal Oklim Quartet. The authors will present their new CD entitled White Gravel-Stones with original compositions by Milko Lazar at the concert this May. (more…)

The Viennese Filaccordionists (Die Wiener Ziehharmoniker), esblished by iniciative of Viennese accordionist and composer Otto Lechner, follow the principle of composers orchestra: in the center of their concert program are compositions and musical ideas of its members accordionists. They all have roots in different musical genres, idioms and approaches; their common denominator consists only in fact, that they all play accordion, be it button or piano, diatonic or chromatic.
