Zvokotok – Drago Ivanuša: RAISING OF THE VOICE
TOLSTOYS
Slovakia
This young dream pop quintet formed in 2016 around singer-songwriter Ela Tolstova. The band delivers mature yet innocent-sounding dream pop with elements of acoustic music, electronic textures, and delicate vocals. Two singles, Right Choice and Agapé, made big waves on the Slovak indie scene, and the Tolstoys’ eagerly awaited debut album “Botanika” was released in October via Slnko Records. And word is that there is much more to be heard from this band in the coming years.

5K HD
Austria
The Austrian supergroup is composed of Schmieds Puls singer Mira Lu Kovacs and jazz band Kompost 3 in which rapper/drummer Koenig handles the drums. Mira, who makes dark pop with her parent band, is regarded as one of the most expressive voices in Austria. The genuinely fresh and colourful group thus combines elements of jazz, dubstep, breakbeat, and, of course, pop. The result is a cinematic journey on which the band is not afraid of sudden turns and unexpected climbs. In September, Seayou Records released their debut album “And To In A”.

ZALA KRALJ
Slovenia
“When Zala Kralj sings, time stops.” MARIBORINFO
Those who caught the song “Valovi” on radio Val 202 undoubtedly turned their head, whether it was the version with producer Gašper, or the most pure and fragile one – the live acoustic rendition. Namely, after hearing the first one, radio host Andrej Karoli invited the talented young singer-songwriter to the studio, so we could hear her live as well. After studying the violin at the music academy, Zala found greater joy in playing the guitar and singing. This led to her first challenge, the covers that have been filling up her YouTube channel over the past year, and then to an even greater one – her own original songs. Here’s to Zala’s challenges!
