Bunker’s Dance with Image Snatchers!

December 16, 2017 8:00 pm

Bunker and Emanat invite you to the traditional Bunker’s New Year Dance – this time in the guise of Emanat’s Image Snatchers.

Image Snatchers is a technoburlesque designed as a physical study of (pop)art forms that are »closer to people«. It alludes to fun and critique, satire and tragedy, music and dance, feminism and strip‑pleasure, ending the fourth year of unstoppable transformation. (more…)

CRITERION – a critical platform

With the texts published about the Mladi Levi festival, Criterion is entering its third season. The critical platform edited by Alma R. Selimović, which covers most of the premieres of the Old Power Station’s season, will continue its format of inviting five authors to write about the performance as theatre experts, field experts, or essayists. In the contemporary performance art landscape characterized by lack of written reflections, the Criterion’s contribution is to provide the artists and audience with a variety of different feedbacks regarding the performance, which are not about confrontation, but rather about different perspectives, readings, as well as ratings.

Snake: I AM

April 23, 2017 8:00 pm 8:00 pm

I am is a choreographic study of possible routes to success, and coping with obstacles along the way. The choreography is built on self-reflection (“Who am I?”) and evolves from picture to picture: from difficulties and limitations coming from the surroundings, to the awakening and overcoming of difficult moments and fears, the fight against the situation. In a spirit of rage, purity, hope, misery, sorrow, sadness, abandonment, negligence …In short, everything a man lives through – day by day, one difficult step after another – according to his social condition, without freedom of expression, without merit … – because he wants to succeed. An eternal struggle for the freedom of being.” Snake

Adonis Nébié: SPIRIT

April 23, 2017 7:00 pm

For Spirit, the choreographer took the dichotomy that sometimes exists between body and mind: the disease. What happens when the body is no longer aware of the pain of the mind and of the reality of its condition? This leads to a broader research on the birth of movement: Is a gesture the same if it is realised consciously or spontaneously? What happens when the body dominates the mind, or vice versa? In Spirit, the body is in contradiction with itself, torn apart, prisoner in an internal conflict whose space is the echo

When we sense strangeness in the encounter with the other, something is revealed – beyond treaties, conventions, expectations, and personal conflicts. What is said and what remains unsaid is part of the construction of an image of ourselves for the other. From this arise expectations that move us in a dialectic of illusions, of fiction and reality. The masks that can as easily either serve us or oppress us, are called into question … This is the moment we choose to keep them or to let them go. Is it in this letting go that we experience something close to a state of consciousness and freedom?

THE CRADLE

April 19, 2017 8:00 pm April 20, 2017 8:00 pm

The opening performance of the 20th Exodos Festival, a co-production between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (C-CEEC), explores our acceptance of differences and our search for particularities. What was laid into the cradles of young dancers, and what did they acquire ever since they walked from it? First of all, the production touches upon the value that nowadays has been almost forgotten: everyday attention, contact with other people, with the society and the surroundings. The Cradle is the first project of the C-CEEC Dance Union. It is a result of Dance Camp, a two-year C-CEEC international project made in collaboration with the Beijing Dance Academy.

FIRST 20 YEARS OF EXODOS

April 19, 2017 6:00 pm

For the past two decades, we have been articulating the notion of contemporary performing arts, ranging from presentations at home (world-class guest performances, meetings with the world-renowned artists, training events with international lecturers and theorists) to international recognition (intercontinental exchanges and collaborations, new artists, new genres and styles of expression). Times have changed, even the field of art have become more and more suffused by branding, while Exodos has remained committed to the contemporary, i.e. to creation, development, existence – in the global context. The debate between theorists and practitioners of performing arts will be moderated by Jedrt Jež Furlan.

The Audience Council #5 – Public discussions 2016/2017

Zbor-za-publiko mala fotka

For the fifth season we are preparing public discussions about independent contemporary performances. Our creation is closely linked to the problems of today. We wonder if we are opening these issues in the right way. Are we dealing with the relevant issues? Do we know how to get in touch with the reality in which you live in and you brought to the performance? (more…)
