Landezine LIVE

The 1st International Symposium on Landscape Architecture Landezine LIVE is being organized by web portal Landezine, founded in 2009, which has established itself as one of the world’s most recognized online media in the field of landscape architecture. The central theme of the symposium will be an interdisciplinary approach to the design of open space. It will feature lectures by – and panel discussion with – a number of well-established foreign (Antje Stokman, Jenny B. Osuldsen, Martí Franch Batllori) and domestic experts (Ana Kučan, Matej Blenkuš) in the fields of landscape architecture and architecture. This year, the first LILA – Landezine International Landscape Award will be awarded by Landezine.com editorial board, currently the only international award in the world that does not reward individual projects, but rather collectives and individuals in the field of landscape architecture for their approach to the design of open space. This year’s award, selected by an international jury, will be conferred to the Catalan architectural studio EMF – Estudi Marti Franch. (more…)

On the one side a “masterpiece of the western civilization:” “Giant and complex.” “Sublime.” “Striking example of human spirit.” “Triumphant vision of brotherhood.” Beethoven’s 9th. Evolution is blind and stupid. Its direction is not predetermined, but rather randomly determined by the environment. In the course of evolution, an animal species may become ever more complex or more simple, but in any case it is becoming better adapted to its habitat. From the perspective of human life, evolution is happening slowly and does not directly affect the individual. Its effects are only visible over many generations. (more…)

Since 2003, Gibanica, Biennial of Slovenian Contemporary Dance Art, represents Slovenian contemporary dance production, always carefully chosen for the festival by a three-member selection team. Gibanica provides a set of best contemporary dance productions by Slovenian producers and is considered the most important contemporary dance platform in the country. It is a combination of national dance festival – providing the local public with the opportunity to gain insight into the quality dance production of the last two years, and local artists to reflect on the quality of the local dance creativity – and a platform to offer for consideration to domestic and foreign guest the art that might be placed in their various artistic programs.
