Janez Janša: WHO IS NEXT?
The performance opens the questions of individuals’ responsibility in the contemporary society – society of recession, shock, precarious livelihood, insecurity and carelessness. What kind of action would it take to trigger a change? Is democracy nothing but an empty ritual of endless dialogues that lead nowhere? Who will take the responsibility and do something? Do something and not back down? Is violence really the only way out? (more…)
KUL ABONMA presents: JIMMY BARKA EXPERIENCE
DJ night / concert
Jimmy Barka Experience is a project devised by three veterans of the Slovenian music scene, who made an attempt to surpass the standard DJ/musician combo. Their mission statement was to make the thing sound as a band, a trio and not as “musician playing along a dj set”. The result is a collage of all sorts of stuff, from funk, breaks, afro, to balksploitation and rock. (more…)
Students of SVŠGL: Pre-premiere ’13: A ROOM OF ONE’S OWN
Pre-premiere is an annual closing performance of the Educational School and High School of Ljubljana – the Arts Programme. The students from contemporary-dance and theatre study courses are thus given an opportunity to enter professional stages in an organized manner and pre-experience performing. Pre-premiere ’13: A Room of One’s Own tackles the position of a woman in contemporary society. The performance addresses identity politics and issues of gender equality by referring to the personal and the social, the engaged and the critical. It re-examines gender as a social construct and opens a reflective stance towards its captive nature on the one hand and possibilities for its expansion on the other. Can one define male and female as evident categories by their very nature, or can it be that these categories are the result of our own constructs and ideological re-transcriptions? What are gender representations like and what inhabits them? (more…)

The Workers and Punks’ University May Day School: TRANSITION, AUSTERITY AND PRIMITIVE ACCUMULATION – LEFT ANSWERS
Capitalism reveals itself in the time of crisis. As Marx and Engels have stressed in The Communist Manifesto, a crisis would seem, from the standpoint of earlier epochs, an utter absurdity. A capitalist crisis is an epidemic of over-production that entails social devastation, destruction of living conditions and overall immiseration of the working masses; precisely this is underway in Europe right now. Mare Bulc: ALL TOGETHER NOW!
The music-theatre project is »theatricalizing« the musical to dissect the migration and the impossibility of migration, the leaving and staying, the reasons why to persist and why to leave.
