Feldenkrais Method Workshop: DEVELOPMENTAL MOVEMENTS

November 17, 2012 November 18, 2012

Nuša Romih Masnoglav and Nevenka Koprivšek, licensed practitioners of the Feldenkrais Method of Awareness Through Movement, will host the first workshop from the cycle: Developmental movements. Suckling, turning to the side, from the belly to the back and vice versa, are just some of the simple developmental movements known but easily forgotten and eagerly rediscovered all over again. There is an authentic confidence and joy we embody when we upgrade our relationship with gravity and our patterns of movement to the way nature intended. The workshop is meant for everyone, regardless of background knowledge or age.

Mateja Bučar: PROCESIRANJE … POINT-LESS

September 29, 2012 8:00 pm September 30, 2012 8:00 pm

Geometrical point is a name for an invisible or visible object … One point less or Point-less stands for an intense research of movement with real and “imaginary” points – ellipses. Ellipses lure into the beauty and exciting madness of their inner relations. Every ellipse is composed of two individual inner focuses on one hand and the constancy of relations and opposites arising between them on the other. An appealing definition for many realities and for several point-less coordinates that determine us. (more…)

18th International Festival of Contemporary Arts – CITY OF WOMEN

Aging represents this year’s main festival theme. The topics are tackled by women artists of all generations, though with emphasis on artists of the middle and older generations, from all over the world and will range from intimate reflections on their attitude to their own bodies, its alleged defects and faults, to a broader social and critical dealing with the euphoric recourse to plastic surgery and the aggressive dictates of the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. And what do others have to say?: Art and the City

October 15, 2012
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The October conversation evening will tackle the theme of cities and urban districts as spaces propelling creativity in their inhabitants, inspiring and motivating them to bring new ideas to life while becoming active agents in their environment. Art in this light thus stands as engine of positive change and permanent improvement. Examples of related good practices will be displayed at the exhibition The City Speaks, held under the auspices of the 23rd Biennial of Design in the National Museum of Slovenia. Guided tour of The City Speaks exhibition will be held on Monday, 15th October at 5 p.m. by artist Raheel Mohammed. The tour will be followed by a thematic conversation in Stara mestna elektrarna – Elektro Ljubljana.

Aidan Cerar, host of the conversation, will speak to Raheel Mohammed and Graham Sheffield, Director Arts for the British Council, and to many other local experts from the areas of urbanism, sociology of space and artistic practices…

The conversation will last approximately 90 minutes and will be held in English language.

It will be followed by snacks, drinks and music.

In cooperation with: BIO Ljubljana, British Council Slovenia, Imagine 2020

“The historical project of the Enlightenment failed. Lights do not work at all.”

Oops is a solo dance performance enacted as a continuous “dialogue” between the dancer and the stage, which keeps questioning the meaning of the performer’s and its own existence. The stage takes on the role of a “dramatis personae”, addressing the audience and the dancer by way of a projected text: “I’m having trouble with the lights. I know I should turn them on any moment now. But I am afraid that this could be a mistake.” (more…)

Žiga Murko Group: CONCERT

October 20, 2012 9:00 pm

Žiga Murko Group is a jazz band of the trombonist and composer Žiga Murko who in 2011 graduated at the Conservatory in Rotterdam. Stylistically, their music evades categorisation as it is inspired by new techniques and harmony of the urban scene as well as by traditional forms and improvisational music concepts. The quartet consists of progressive, elaborate, conceptually colourful sound explorers who will lead the listener to a new world of original compositions, turbulent improvisation and an idea of clarity, which will linger on long after the concert. The music will be accompanied by visuals. (more…)

Sparks are representing young, not yet established artists and daring, piercing ideas of already established artists. Dedicated to flashes of the new and innovative.

The first cycle of Sparks took place during three November evenings in 2013 and introduced young artists from various genres – contemporary dancers, film artists, musicians and photographers. Some of them are still attending primary and secondary schools and co-operating with distinguished artists, others are at the beginning of their individual artistic paths, each of them contributing a fresh approach to creation and an individual perspective on art.
