Betontanc: TRACK OF THE WORLD
Track of the World revolves around the theme of cycling by highlighting the strength, extremism and dynamics involved in adrenaline sports. As they skilfully circle around the velodrome, the performers have to test their mental and physical endurance in a very specific manner. A dead body of a cyclist turns up in the story and triggers a mystery-solving game: was it a murder, a suicide or an accident? The cyclist’s death is placed into a wider context of professional sports machinery, revealing the behind-the-scenes reality of injuries, inhumane physical exertion, doping, anxiety, desire, passion and hope.
The dead cyclist becomes a hero, for he had dared to live his passion. Many people don’t have that courage. And without heroes we’re all just ordinary people. Without heroes we wouldn’t even know how far we can go.
