Kitula & Via Ofenziva

May 28, 2015 8:00 pm

Presentation of Kitula, the most recent poetry collection written by Esad Babačić, and a concert by the legendary new-wave group Via Ofenziva.

It was on a basketball court in Vodmat district and in the Rio Pub where the encounter between four people interested in sports, books and rock’n’roll took place. They formed a group called Via Ofenziva. Even though interested in producing new music, Via Ofenziva strives to revive some classics that have been acquiring new meaning in the present-day time as we see the old world collapse in dust while the current period calls for contemplation on meaning and our own subjectivity.

Cast: Esad Babačić (vocal), Zoran Železnik (guitar), Toni Semerl (bass), Robert Fritsch (percussion)

Esad Babačić, singer, poet, novelist, copywriter and journalist is one of the few Slovenian citizens who refused to camouflage their origin in this otherwise mono-cultural environment by changing the letter ć (denoting their Balkan origin) in their last name into a č (to suggest a Slovenian origin), quite on the contrary – during these last 25 years Babačić has been constantly affirming his bicultural identity in interviews and documentary films.
