manifest

Theatre project MANIFEST K. takes the Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels as its template and conceptual basis. It sets out to perform/stage the Communist Manifesto, not as a political program, but as a formal score, opening doors to contemporary artistic procedures and effects. Will the act of transferring political function onto a merely aesthetic one produce additional political effect? In the world of today, which treats communism as a trash on the floor, to be walked upon and spitted at by a coincidental passerby, because it has proven itself to be not only impossible and ineffective in its realistic manifestation, but also lethal, terrifying and inhuman…; in the world of today, which offers and opens possibilities for questioning lost illusions due to the crisis of the neoliberal capitalism … The monster of communism remains to haunt across Europe.
