THE SHOCKING GALA SHOW
EVENTS AT THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE PUPILJA FERKEVERK GROUP
Short-lasting but nevertheless powerful work of the Pupilija Ferkeverk group managed to leave a lasting mark on the theatre neo-avant-garde in Slovenia and former Yugoslavia. The group adopted an innovative and uncompromising approach in order to introduce several novelties within the theatre arena, encompassing everyday life and popular culture, dramaturgy of the collage and video as well as elements of performance and happening. All of these novelties gave rise to a new, fresh and interdisciplinary approach towards art and society. Numerous events, symposiums, debates, shows and performances will take place during 21st and 28th October at various locations in Ljubljana to honour the 40th anniversary of the group’s existence. Anniversary is an appropriate occasion to bring attention to the previous work of the group, as well as to place the latter within a wider cultural and artistic, domestic and international context, while giving the whole thing a subtle flavour of an almost innocent speech, which also easily catches attention of a contemporary audience member.
The following events are to take place at the Stara mestna elektrarna – Elektro Ljubljana during that time, which will be followed by conversations with Slovene and internationally renowned hosts:
