The Old Power Station Behind the Scenes

Guided tour of the Old Power Station – a story of history

»On January 1, 1898, the city of Ljubljana shone in the electric light. The era of electrification began the introduction of all things new and modern. One can simply not imagine a life without electricity today. The inventors have developed new devices, new machines and means of transport that radically changed the situation during the period of electrification.” Tadej Brate

The Old Power Station is a beautiful brick building in the heart of Ljubljana, one of the more striking sites in town. Its construction began in 1898, and today it is protected as a cultural, technical and historical monument owned by Elektro Ljubljana. Since 2004, however, it leads a double life – it serves as a dispatch center, providing electricity to a third of Ljubljana, and at the same time, it is a venue of lively artistic creation, a meeting point for artists of different genres and aesthetics, with workshops, sparking debates, and unforgettable gatherings.

Are you looking to peek behind the curtains of the Power Station, to get to know its fascinating history? Join us on The Old Power Station Behind the Scenes guided tour.
