The project Avant-Premiere is an annual final presentation for graduates and other students of SVŠGL –contemporary dance department, which emerged in 2003 and presents one of the school activities. The final production presents four classes of students under the mentorship of their teachers and renowned Slovene contemporary dancers. The artistic leader of the project comprehensively and aesthetically rounds up individual dances and connects solos and group choreographies into a contemporary and quality artistic evening with a recognizable artistic expression, which surpasses the mere form of a high school production. In 2009, the young dancers will tackle this year’s ‘matura’ theme, with the working title Opposites – today’s perspective on the beginnings of modern dance, and will attempt to view the opposites as the dynamics of the relationships within smaller social units, as well as through the wider perspective, while linking the enigmas of contemporary dance for its beginnings, both in Slovenia and abroad.
