We are announcing: Mladi Levi International Festival 2014

The Mladi Levi International Festival is one of the more prominent annual events of the Bunker institution, bringing the most current performing artists from all over the world to Ljubljana every end of the summer. Engaged art will define this year’s programme, with contemporary performances highlighting documentary theatre and thus presenting stories that melt the intimate with the political. For the present-day world reconfirms the catchword that reality is stranger than fiction and in a way, the stories to emerge at the Mladi levi festival reflect the time we live in. Not like a mirror though, which is a general assumption about theatre, they merely disclose a new view on reality, a new perspective – the world we know and live, from a new angle. We will take a look at participatory practices and installations, set up to complement other parts of the festival programme, such as structured conversations, round-table discussions, workshops and film screening. The visiting artists to appear at the festival are Mariano Pensotti, Kate McIntosh, Corinne Maier, Philippe Quesne, Lola Arias, Maike Lond, Roger Bernat and others.

This year’s festival opening will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Stara mestna elektrarna – Elektro Ljubljana. In a tribute to all those who throughout the years have contributed to a rich programme of one of the most vibrant contemporary performing arts venues in Ljubljana, a special music – visual event will take place on the platform next to the venue.
