Snježana Premuš: PHYSICAL MANIFESTATIONS 2

Choreo‑social project Physical manifestation 2 focuses on the means, methods and modules that think of somatic practice as a material and a system for revitalizing the social body by transforming it into an experiential, participatory artistic event in which both performers and the audience are able to access the principles through experience.
The format extracted by the author is an event designed in the form of a laboratory, expanding the processivity into the theater space. It is important for the authors to meet with the audience in the very source – where the physical image lives: inside the body.

The first phase of the project, comprising of three laboratories with closed groups of participants, begins in April.

»The focus is on the listening to the physicality, which becomes the motive for a movement and enables the ability to respond physically, to act, to move. Such an approach escapes the strong cultural and social subjectivity of the awareness of the body primarily through visual perception, shifting the attention away from the physical appearance towards what shapes, transforms and fixes this physical image. It is precisely on this point that Poíesis of self makes a major shift – it removes the stage appearance (and the appearance of the body, its language/expression) in its classical sense, only revealing it through personal experience of each ‘viewer’.« Nika Arhar, MMC RTV Slovenia, on the Poíesis of self, 2016/17
