Concert: HARMONIES OF SLOVENIA

The release of a double record with contemporary folk music from various Slovenian regions will be followed by a concert, which Celinka is currently preparing in order to introduce all the vocalists and musicians that took part in the recording. The concert’s co-organizers are the Folk Slovenia Cultural Society and the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia.

Around 170 musicians will perform at the concert, thus presenting their folk singing in one, two, three, four, five and six voices and thereby also introducing various styles and dialects in spoken and vocal expression as having emerged from different regions. This particular folk music tradition will also come to life through solo instruments and various folk group compositions as characteristic of certain territories. The concert will feature: Volk Folk from Ilirska Bistrica; Trstenke from Podlehnik in Haloze; Palmiro Krmac, a diatonic accordion musician from Čentur; the music group Vruja; Marko Banda; Nediški puobi from Venetian Slovenia; Citiravci from Resia; and the Sodevški tambura players …
